Arrest made for assault in Karangahape Rd.

Auckland Police have today, the 29th June 2011, charged a man with Assault in relation to the serious head injuries suffered by 40-year-old Trevor KAUKAU.

The man arrested and charged with Assault is a 20-year-old part-time Storeman from Otahuhu. This man will be appearing in the District Court at Auckland later today.

The alleged Victim of the Assault, 40-year-old Mr KAUKAU, remains in a drug-induced coma at Auckland Hospital with his condition described as stablising following surgery yesterday to attempt to relieve the affects of swelling to his brain as a result of the injuries that he suffered.

Mr KAUKAU was found on Karangahape Road in the central city area of Auckland in the early hours of Saturday morning suffering from these injuries.
