Fatal crash - Taranaki

Police and other emergency services are currently at the scene of a fatal crash in Taranaki.

At approximately 1am Saturday morning, the emergency services were called to the scene of a single vehicle crash on Frankley Road, in the suburb of Ferndale, New Plymouth - after a resident reported hearing a loud crash.

Police arrived to find a vehicle with one occupant had lost control near the intersection with Barclay Road. The sole occupant of the vehicle died at the scene shortly after the emergency services arrived.

The road is currently closed while Police conduct a thorough scene examination.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.

Information regarding the identity of the deceased will not be released until the identity has been confirmed and the next of kin advised (expected to be late Saturday morning).
