Witnesses sought for fatal scooter crash

The Tauranga Serious Crash unit investigating Wednesday's fatal motor cycle crash at Mt Maunganui would like to talk to anyone who was in the area at the time and has not yet spoken to Police.

Eighty-three year old Alan Kappely died when the scooter he was driving crashed into the back of a Police car on Maunganui Road, near the intersection of Tweed Street, at approximately 11:30am on Wednesday 6th July.

Police would like to talk to anyone who was in the vicinity of the crash and saw either the vehicles before the crash occurred, or witnessed the crash itself and who have not yet contacted the Police.
