Caution required on Central Otago roads

Alexandra Police wish to advise of roads affected by the adverse weather conditions in the Central Otago area of the South Island.

State Highway 8 from Lawrence to Milton is closed due to snow.
Ranfurly to Naseby on SH 85 (also known as the Pig Route) the road is currently open but heavy ice will be encountered. Chains are essential to be carried in all vehicles.

A general notice: heavy snow and iced will be encountered in the majority of the Central Otago area. Police are recommending that people stay at home unless vital. Extreme care and caution required.
