Fleeing driver crashed

Just after 2 pm this afternoon police tried to stop a stolen Subaru Legacy on Te Rakau Drive. The car briefly stopped to let off some passengers and then fled the scene. It turned into Te Irirangi Drive and started driving at high speed.

Police stopped following the car due to the high speed of the vehicle. The car then hit a truck and was spiked after that. It drove into the grass verge and hit a small tree.

The driver was arrested shortly after that. He has minor injuries. 2 other passengers ran off and are still being sought. No one else was injured in the incident.
