Greta Valley Crash

At approximately 1.28 am this morning (Monday 1 August 2011) a vehicle travelling towards Christchurch on State Highway 1, south of Greta Valley, left the road and collided with a bank.

Emergency services rushed to the scene. The sole occupant, a male aged 68 years, died as a result of the injuries received in the crash. Police from Amberley assisted by the Serious Crash Unit are investigating the cause of the crash.

The state highway has had a single lane opened and motorists can expect delays.
