Speight's Summit Sponsors Surf & Ski Adventure

Teams made up of NZ ski and surf personalities are going head to head by traveling the
length of the South Island in four days, skiing a different summit and surfing a different
break every day.

Sponsored by Speightʼs Summit, Surf to Summit will pit Crowd Goes Wild presenters Hayley Holt and Mark Richardson against each other as they compete to complete the adventurous mission. Each will be heading up a team: Mark with skier and surfer Angus Kebbell and OʼNeill athlete Jess Videbec, and Hayley with NZ ski personality Alex Herbert and OʼNeill athlete Kyle Cooper.

The mission will take four action-packed days as the teams drive, chopper, hike, surf,
snowboard, and ski the length of the island from Farewell Spit on Day One (September
1) to Bluff on Day Four (by midnight September 4). This will not be easy, as surf and
mountain conditions could affect their chances of completing the challenge within the
four-day period. Last yearʼs first-ever Surf to Summit faced the worst storm in a decade,
but the group still managed to create a world record – the first time anyone had travelled
the length of a country skiing a different peak and surfing a different break each day.

Making the road trip in the Spaceship campervans will be six athletes, a
producer/director, four cameramen, a safetyman, and two helpers, while local legends in
surf and ski will meet them along the way to help them complete the record.

A stop at Cardrona Speightʼs Ale House on the night of September 3 will see the teams
together for the first time – and possibly even pulling a few pints for punters! The challenge will celebrate its completion in Bluff at the southernmost point of the country in the evening on September 4, with festivities and no doubt a refreshing bottle of Speightʼs Summit to reward the participants for their hard work!

Footage of Mark and Hayleyʼs adventures will be seen on Summitʼs facebook page
throughout the journey and Crowd Goes Wild the following week, with a 60-minute
special airing on Sky and Prime in September. The team with the most “likes” on
facebook after the show goes to air wins the glory of Surf to Summit victory!
