Train v car

Police are currently attending a crash involving a train and a car on a level crossing on Waimotu Rd near Herbert which occurred at about 7.35am this morning.

The car was extensively damaged, however the driver of the car, believed to be a male in his 50's, escaped with minor injuries.

He has been transported to hospital as a precaution.

The crash site was on a secondary road and the circumstances of the crash are unknown at this stage.
