Fatal crash

Hawke's Bay Police are currently attending the scene of their second fatal crash of the day.

Emergency services were called to the intersection of State Highway 2 and Drumpeel Road in Otane (Central Hawke's Bay) at approximately 6.50pm, after a passing motorist discovered a vehicle had crashed into a power pole at the intersection.

The vehicle with two occupants had hit the power pole and rolled onto it's roof, killing one of the two male occupants.

The road has been closed to allow the Police serious crash unit to conduct a scene examination, with diversions in place via College and Argyll Roads.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.
