Operation Harmony
Tauranga CIB working on the investigation into the burglaries of the Caltex Service Station Cameron Road, and two burglaries at the BP Service Station in Maungatapu where over $23 000 worth of cigarettes were taken have arrested four persons responsible for the breaks.
The investigation also resulted in the group being charged for three similar and significant burglaries of two Caltex Service Stations and a Kathmandu Store in Auckland around the same time. The property taken in these burglaries amounted to over $37 000 in cigarettes and clothing.
Detectives travelled to Auckland this week and with the assistance of Auckland CIB executed several search warrants leading to the arrests.
Three men, two aged 28, one aged 27 and a female aged 23, all from Auckland are jointly facing burglary charges of the service stations
The investigation has been ongoing and protracted since the burglaries occurred in June and July this year.
The defendants have all appeared in Court in Auckland in connection with the burglaries.
Investigations such as these rely on the assistance of the community and this case was no exception. Information given by members of the public greatly assisted the enquiry eventually leading to the arrests.
These burglaries occurred in commercial and residential locations in the early hours of the morning however, their suspicious activity did rouse attention and in these cases a 111 call to the Police can increase the chances of the burglars being caught significantly.
