Two die in North Shore crash

Two people are dead and a third has been flown to Auckland hospital with serious injuries following a head-on crash on Bawden Road at Redvale, south of the North Shore Airfield.

Witness accounts indicate that one of the vehicles was overtaking on no passing lanes at speed when the crash occurred. The driver of the overtaking vehicle, a man in his 20s, and the woman driver of the vehicle struck were killed and her female passenger, believed to be her middle-aged daughter, was seriously injured.

Bawden Road, between Top and Dairy Stream Roads has been closed by the crash and is not expected to be re-opened until at least 3 or 4pm. The closures do not include main roads and are not causing significant disruption.

Serious Crash team-members based at the Harbour Bridge are dealing with the scene.
