WELLINGTON

The Pelorus Trust Fireshow is back to turn up the heat along Petone Foreshore at the fifth annual Petone Carnival.

Starting from 8pm on Saturday 10 September, the fireworks spectacular will showcase some of the best pyrotechnics in the Wellington region.

Mayor Ray Wallace says the Fireshow is a fantastic way to bring to an end a fun-filled day of carnival rides, parades, live entertainment and family activities.

"The Petone Carnival is also a great way to showcase our city. More than 40,000 people came along last year to enjoy the festivities and this year it's likely the crowd will be bigger with visitors to the Wellington region increased due to rugby festivities."

The Fireshow will be set to a specially prepared soundtrack broadcasted live on Classic Hits 90.1FM from three stages along Petone Foreshore.

People attending the Fireshow are advised to arrive early, and take public transport where possible to minimise traffic congestion.

You can view the Fireshow from anywhere along Petone Foreshore, as well as from the hilltops of the surrounding suburbs of Khandallah, Newlands and Maungariki.

Boat spectators are able to view the Fireshow from the water, but must remain at least 500m from the wharf and are advised to stay safe and wear a lifejacket at all times.
