WELLINGTON CITY

The rumours are true - you can now access free Wi-Fi all along the Golden Mile. From the stadium to the Embassy Theatre, you can log on for free from your laptop or smartphone.

This new service, which kicked off last Thursday, is a partnership between Wellington City Council and CityLink.

Mayor Celia Wade-Brown says she has seen people logging on along Lambton Quay, outside Cuba Street cafes, and along the waterfront.

"It's a great sight to see in this digital age and it fits perfectly with our Wellington 2040 vision as a smart, green city," says Mayor Wade-Brown.

"Considering how many thousands of people are visiting the Capital over the next few weeks, we're delighted they can now check in with news from home for free - and tell their friends and family about the great time they're having in Wellington."
