Wellington Police investigating alleged sexual assault early this morning

Wellington Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault in Manners Street which occurred around 6:30am this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard of the Wellington CIB says Police were called to the incident at around 6:50am this morning.

"An incident is alleged to have occurred in the public toilet area in Te Aro Park on Manners Street at around 6:30am."

Donna Howard says a scene examination has been completed today and further enquiries are being made.

"We would like to speak to anyone who was in this area between 6:00am and 6:45am this morning and may be able to assist Police to contact us on either (04) 381 2000 or by phoning Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111."
