Enquries continuing into Te Aro Park public toilets sexual assault a week ago

WELLINGTON CITY

Wellington Police are continuing to investigate an alleged sexual assault in Manners Street which occurred around 6:30am last Thursday morning and hope a male pictured in CCTV images will be able to assist Police.

Detective Senior Sergeant Donna Howard of the Wellington CIB says Police were called to the incident at around 6:50am on Thursday 15 September 2011, where it is alleged a woman aged in her early 40's was sexually assaulted inside the public toilets in Te Aro Park on Manners Street around 6:30am.

"We have been making a number of enquiries in recent days, which has included reviewing CCTV footage in the area. We are hoping the public can help us identify and locate this male in the attached CCTV images, who was in the vicinity of the Te Aro Park public toilets at the time of the alleged sexual assault."

He is aged in his 20's, with olive skin and facial hair, who was wearing blue jeans, a dark grey hooded sweatshirt with a zip and possibly a beanie underneath the hood.

Donna Howard says, "We would like people who were in the Manners Street area last Thursday morning to cast their minds back and contact us if they believe they can assist Police with our enquiries. Particularly if they saw anyone or anything suspicious in the vicinity of the Te Aro Park public toilets between 6:00am and 6:45am.
