Update on stabbing

Waitakere Police have made a decision not to charge the 15 year old youth who stabbed an intruder during a burglary incident in Henderson on 28 July 2011.

A male burglar was in the process of stealing property at a West Auckland address when he was apprehended by the youth and his father.

Police believe that on this occasion the public interest is best served by managing the incident via referral to the Waitakere Youth Aid section.

Police strongly advise any member of the public who encounters an intruder on their property to exercise caution and not put themselves at unnecessary risk. Call Police for assistance as soon as you can. Otherwise keep watch and observe.

Note: Police will make no further comment as this file is now a Youth Aid matter.
