Driver named- fatal crash

At 6:45pm on the 3rd of October 2011 a fatal vehicle crash occurred on Lismore Mayfield Road about 20 km north west of Ashburton.

A vehicle driven by 17 year old local Ashburton man Tyler Dustin TOURLE sole and occupant of the vehicle has failed to take a moderate right hand bend and driven straight into a power pole. The vehicle was extensively damaged.

A Fonterra milk tanker driver travelling in the opposite direction has come across the accident moments later and contacted emergency services. He noticed a fire had broken out and used a fire extinguisher from his truck to put the fire out.

A police serious crash unit attended the scene are enquiries are continuing into the cause of the crash.
