A heritage building in Kaitaia will get a spruce-up thanks to Te Hiku Community Board.

The board has given the Kaitaia Dalmatian Cultural Club $5000 towards costs of repainting its 88-year-old clubrooms on the corner of South and Redan Roads.

The community grant will help the club complete an eight-year repair and maintenance programme for the Historic Places Trust-listed building.

The grant was one of three grants the Te Hiku Board gave out at its monthly meeting at Coopers Beach on September 14.

The board also gave the Far North Avocado Festival Trust $3000 towards costs of staging a Christmas Carnival and Santa Parade in Kaitaia on December 3.

It gave the Doubtless Bay Tennis Club $1359 to landscape a Coopers Beach site where the club built four tennis courts in 2008 with Far North District Council financial support.
