Missing girl located

At about 1.50pm on Wednesday the 12th of October 2011 the Motueka Police received a report of a missing 13-year-old girl, in the Kaiteriteri area.

Circumstances are that the girl, whose name will not be released at this stage, went for a run which normally takes her 20 minutes. She left on the run at 10.10am. The route was between Stephens Bay and Dummy Bay, near Kaiteriteri.

A search of the area by family failed to locate the girl and Police were subsequently called.

A search and rescue operation involving a helicopter, boats and search teams is currently underway.
