Auckland City Central Police have tonight apprehended escaped prisoner Aaron Forden.

Forden escaped from Auckland Central Remand Prison on 10 October 2011.

Inspector Andrew Coster, Auckland City Central area commander, acknowledged the work of Police staff who tracked and located Forden without incident just a week after his escape from prison.

“I’m most appreciative of the efforts of the small team of detectives that has worked solidly over the past week to track Forden and for the members of the public who contacted Police about possible sightings”, Inspector Coster said.

Forden was arrested by Auckland City Criminal Investigation Branch staff without incident at about 6.45pm near Silverdale.

Aaron Forden will be held overnight at Auckland Central Police Station and will appear in Auckland District Court tomorrow on a charge of escaping lawful custody.
