Police have received numerous weather-related reports this morning, including surface flooding and trees/branches down, on roads in the North Otago and Canterbury regions.

The section of State Highway One, from Rakaia south to Chertsey in South Canterbury, has been particularly affected by surface flooding. Police and Roading crews have been busy responding to calls of flooding in that area.

State Highway 75 at Birdlings Flat beside Lake Forsyth, on the Banks Peninsula, has also seen quite a bit of flooding.

And State Highway 85, east of the North Otago town of Ranfurly, also has a lot of surface flooding.

Motorists are again urged to drive to the weather and road conditions and adjust their speeds and following distances accordingly.
