Fatal Crash: State Highway 2, Te Matai, Bay of Plenty

A fatal crash has occurred on State Highway 2 between Pah Road and Rangiuru Road near Te Matai, Bay of Plenty.

A motorcyclist has been killed as a result of a collision with a motor vehicle.

A female occupant of a vehicle has also been trapped in her vehicle.

The Police serious crash unit has been called to investigate the crash.

The road will be closed for at least an hour, if not longer.

There are no viable detours available. The only possible detour is along Te Matai Road onto State Highway 36 however this will involve a lengthy drive.

Police advise avoiding the area entirely to avoid delays.

No further comment will be made until the investigation is complete.
