CAMBRIDGE

Just after midnight this morning Emergency Services were called to a vehicle crash on Browning Road, Cambridge.

A Toyota vehicle collided with a power pole and spun out uncontrollably approximately 50 metres before it hit a tree on the front lawn of a residential property.

A 17 male year old male who was driving the vehicle died at the scene while three other passengers were taken through to Waikato Hospital.

One of the passengers, a 20 year old male is currently listed as being in a critical condition at Waikato Hospital.

There were no other vehicles involved in the crash.

Senior Sergeant Gillian Meadows of Hamilton Police stated that early investigation shows that the driver on a restricted license, lost control of the vehicle and was travelling too fast for the road conditions.

The cause of the crash is currently being investigated by the Waikato Serious Crash Unit.
