ROXBURGH

The Roxburgh Community Board is supporting a Community Working Bee as a way of building community spirit in the Teviot Valley, and as an innovative way of helping to make the ratepayers dollar go further.

Roxburgh Community Board Deputy Chair Helen Pinder said, “For the inaugural event, we’ve chosen areas around the Roxburgh Children’s Playground and Barbeque Park as the first location, but next year it could be held anywhere in our Ward – maybe Millers Flat or Lake Roxburgh Village. The Roxburgh and Districts Lions Club have really got behind the idea and we are hoping for a large turnout on Saturday 5 November, 9am - 1.30pm.”

Mrs Pinder said it would be great if volunteers could bring their own gear - chainsaws, weed eaters, pruners, gardening tools and the protective gear to match the equipment. Paint to spruce up the picnic tables and seats is being supplied by Council and all green waste will be mulched on site. There will also be a free barbeque lunch for all the workers.

If you plan to help can you please call Helen Pinder (03) 446 8694 or text 0274 468 694, email shellrox@xtra.co.nz
