Police make arrests over Aggravated robbery at the Bedrock Bar in 2009.

Christchurch South Police have today charged the last offender in relation to the armed hold-up of the Bedrock Bar, situated on Lincoln Road, Addington back in June 2009.

Today a 23 year old beneficiary was arrested and charged with the aggravated robbery. He joins a 20 year old and 37 year old who were charged last month.

He is currently in Police custody to appear in the Rangiora Court on Monday morning.

Detective Sergeant Scott Anderson of Christchurch South Police says it is alleged that after closing on Friday the 19 June 2009 three men, armed with a gun, knife and tyre iron confronted a security guard as he left the bar. The offenders took his cigarettes, cell phone and money from him.

They held the security guard at the rear of the premises and confronted another person who arrived to see the manager. Once the manager opened the back door the offenders confronted him and entered the bar with the security guard and the visitor.

Once inside the two bar staff, the visitor and the last remaining patron were held in the toilet. The manager was forced at gun point to open the safe and a large amount of cash was stolen.

The offenders then ran from the bar after they had shut the others in the bottle store. Their money bag had a hole in it as they left a coin trail across Lincoln Road into the Addington Mall.

Detective Sergeant Anderson says that the investigation has relied on forensic evidence gathered at the scene, which has been linked the offenders.

Note: At the time of this release the offender had not yet appeared at the Rangiora District Court.
