Hillcrest Homicide - Young Man Arrested & Charged With Murder
An 18 year old male has been indicted for murder after the body of a young woman was found at a house in suburban Hillcrest early today.
North Shore Police went to an address in Eban Avenue at about 7.15am this morning Monday 7 November 2011 after a triple one priority call. On arrival they found the deceased body of a Caucasian female.
A man who was at the scene was taken into custody and after being interviewed by police was this afternoon arrested for murder. He will appear in the North Shore District Court tomorrow.
A bloodstained knife was found at the scene. Police are not looking for anyone else in relation to this continuing murder investigation.
The name and age of the deceased victim has not yet been released. There are still next of kin who are yet to be contacted and informed.
A post mortem on the deceased body will be carried out tomorrow.
Police enquiries today have involved specialist officers and ESR personnel engaged in a forensic examination of the crime scene, as well as interviews with friends, family and neighbours living nearby.
A police cordon will remain in place overnight.
