New Zealanders now have the chance to bid for two tickets to one of three blind dining charity events at MasterChef Simon Gault’s award winning restaurant Euro this month.
Mr Gault’s top Auckland restaurant Euro has teamed up with the charity cbm to deliver three blind dining nights, and has put two tickets to the Sunday 20 November evening on Trade Me with a $1 reserve.
Darren Ward, cbm National Director says: “Being without sight for the evening will give people a unique perspective on what it is like to live with a life-altering disability.”
Diners will be blindfolded on entry before sitting down to a sumptuous three course meal. The experience is designed to heighten the diner’s awareness of flavour, texture and smell by removing the sense we rely on most.
cbm is an international aid organisation dedicated to working with and raising awareness of people with disabilities in the world’s poorest countries.
The winner of the Trade Me auction will also be given an exclusive tour of Euro’s kitchen with Simon Gault, as well as an autographed copy of his latest cookbook ‘Nourish’.
Mr Gault says: “I am honoured to be able to support cbm and bring awareness to their work such as their Child Sponsorship programmes. It’s a fantastic charity and I know Auckland will get behind this worthwhile and exciting event. ”
Mr Ward says: “cbm is immensely grateful to Mr Gault and the team at Euro for donating their time and energy into raising awareness for cbm’s work and hopes the Trade Me auction will help raise more money for the charity.”
Tickets to the event are priced at $150.00 per person, which includes a full three course meal with matching wine for each course and a $50 donation to the charity. DNC wine merchants will be donating all the wine towards the three events.
cbm’s Child Sponsorship programme’s focus is on supporting and educating children living with a disability and poverty. The money raised from the charity event will go towards stopping disabled children’s needless suffering in countries such as Africa and Asia.
Tickets for the blind dining event at Euro can be purchased at www.cbm-nz.org.nz or see the ticket auction on the Trade Me website www.trademe.co.nz. The Trade Me auction will close at 8pm on Wednesday 16 November.
