Christmas parades, hip hop dancers and yachting regatta among winners in divvy-up of community board cash

Whangaroa is a little closer to achieving its community vision thanks to the Bay of Islands-Whangaroa Community Board.
The board approved a $15,000 community grant request from the Whangaroa Community Trust at its monthly meeting in Kerikeri on October 26.
The trust will use the money to implement initiatives in a community development plan, including holding youth forums, developing a tourism brochure for visitors to Whangaroa and creating a catchment management plan for the area.
The grant was one of six the board gave out in a spend-up totalling more than $26,000.
Business Paihia received $3000 towards costs of holding a Christmas Parade in Paihia on December 9 and Paihia Summer Festival on 5-15 January 2012.
Kawakawa Primary School received $2250 towards costs of sending 10 students (KP Groovestaz) to Sydney on November 25-26 to take part in the World Supremacy Hip Hop Competition.
The organisers of Bay of Islands Sailing Week received $2000 for professional photography services during the yachting regatta on 23-27 January 2012.
Kerikeri Lions received $2000 towards costs of holding a Christmas Parade in Kerikeri on December 2.
The Kerikeri Business Association received $1945.55 towards costs of holding a street party in Kerikeri after the Fullers GreatSights Kerikeri Half Marathon on November 19.
