A tidy-up of Joe Gibbs Reserve in Inglewood will see nearly 30 trees removed later this week.

About 17 dead macrocarpas and about 10 sycamores will be taken down from Thursday (17 November).

“The sycamores are self-seeded and are spreading through the reserve, which features predominantly native trees, so they need to be taken out,” says District Arborist Conrad Pattison.

“We’ll replant the areas the trees are removed from with appropriate native species during next winter.”

The tree removals will take several days, depending on the weather, with some parts of the reserve closed off to the public during this time.

The felled sycamores will be donated to the Inglewood Development Trust, which will hold a firewood fundraiser.
