Wellington Police continue investigation into how young man recieved serious injuries on Friday night
Wellington Police are continuing to investigate how a 20 year old male sustained serious injuries on Friday evening.
Detective Sergeant Corey Watts of the Wellington CIB says just before midnight on Friday 11 November, the victim was in Pirie Street, Mount Victoria, at a party.
"The victim, described as Maori with short black hair and a beard, and wearing a striped t-shirt and jeans, left the party briefly before returning about ten minutes later with his injuries, which included head and facial fractures, a broken arm and several grazes."
Detective Sergeant Watts says whilst initial information suggests that the victim was assaulted, other causes have not been excluded.
“Police are working to establish how this young man received these serious injuries, and we are looking at a number of possibilities. We would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time, who may have either seen the male victim or have information as to how he sustained his injuries."
The victim is in a stable condition in Wellington Hospital.
Anyone with any information should phone Wellington Police on (04) 381 2000 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
