Man located in water clinging to Dinghy

A man was located clinging to his tin dinghy in water near Eastern Beach at approx 9.05pm tonight. He has used his cellphone to contact the Northern Communications Centre to advise them of his situation.
He was located alive by the police helicopter and taken aboard a coastguard vessel. He used a flare which allowed rescue staff to locate him.
However police are disapointed that this person has ignored weateher reports and gone fishing in a boat that was too small.
