Boy stabbed in Nelson McDonald's carpark

A 13 year old boy was stabbed while walking through the carpark at McDonald’s restaurant in Nelson yesterday.

The incident happened about 4.30pm as the boy walked through the car park towards Hardy St after he had left the bus stop in Rutherford Street. An unknown youth on a BMX came up behind the boy and stuck a pocket knife into his right forearm causing a 1.5 cm laceration.

The attacker has then left on a silver BMX bike. He was accompanied by 3-4 teenage youths on bikes.

The attacker is described as wearing a black hoodie, blue jeans, white and red/purple shoes like Hi-tops. He had dark hair with a long fringe down to his eyes.

A male has come to provide assistance to the victim and Police are interested in talking to this person or any other witnesses to the incident.

The victim was treated at Nelson Hospital and has been released into his parent's care.
