Unexplained Death Upgraded To Homicide
Waitakere Police have revealed that their enquiries into the unexplained death of a 22 year old male security guard have been upgraded. It is now a homicide investigation.
The investigation - Operation Hope - began a week ago when the body of Charanpreet Singh Dhaliwal was found at a West Auckland construction site at about 3.15am on Friday 18 November 2011.
The Waitakere CIB investigation team is now satisfied that the deceased has died from head injuries as a result of being assaulted.
The construction site where the body was found is located nearby the Lincoln Road – North Western Motorway over bridge.
Police are appealing to anyone who was in this area between midnight and 3.00am on Friday 18 November 2011 to come forward. The public can play a crucial role in this investigation. Someone has the essential information needed to advance this enquiry.
All available security surveillance footage is being accessed and reviewed. Investigators want to identify several persons who are known to have been in the area at the time.
