Fatal motor accident

At 2.19 PM Friday 25/11/11 a crash occurred on State Highway one, approximately 500 meters south of the Ashley River bridge, Waikuku, North Canterbury.

The crash involved two cars colliding head on, killing the driver of one of the vehicles. The other driver was taken to Christchurch hospital with moderate injuries.

Both vehicles contained one person only.

The road was closed for about four hours while the crash scene was cleared.

The deceased person is a woman in her 60's. Her details will be released when NOK have been notified.

The Rangiora Police are investigating the crash.
