The International Federation of Netball Associations (IFNA) and Netball New Zealand (NNZ) today confirmed New Zealand has been awarded the right to host the World Netball Series for a three year term. The first event will be held in November 2012.

NNZ Chief Executive Raelene Castle said it’s exciting for NNZ to have the opportunity to host another World event.

“FastNet will give the Australasian netball public a chance to enjoy this exciting and vibrant event first hand," she said.

The World Netball Series is one of two official IFNA international competitions. It is a ‘short-form’ netball game known as FastNet and it is played as a round robin, over four days, by the top six nations in the world rankings.

The event has been played in the United Kingdom over the past three years and has developed as a compelling new version of the game. FastNet is played with innovative rules including rolling substitutions, 6 minute quarters, 2 point shoots from outside the circle and power play quarters.

The FastNet Ferns are currently defending their World Netball Series title in Liverpool.
