AUCKLAND

There will be changes to some Auckland Council services over the Christmas holiday period.

Rubbish collections

During the Christmas and New Year’s holidays, all council rubbish and recycling and paper collections will be one day later than usual.

This will affect collections for two weeks starting on Monday 26 December (Boxing Day). The normal collection schedule will resume on Monday 9 January 2012.

For the Auckland Anniversary holiday weekend, Monday 30 January, all council rubbish collections will be one day later that week.

Service centres and local board offices

The council’s service centres and local board offices will close at 12.30pm on Friday 23 December. They will reopen on Wednesday 4 January with the exception of the following offices, which reopen on Monday 9 January:

  • Birkenhead (Birkenhead Library)
  • Devonport
  • Waiuku


Local Board offices:

  • Mangere-Otahuhu (Mangere Town Centre)
  • Whau (New Lynn)
  • Waitakere Ranges (Glen Eden)
  • Maungakiekie Tamaki (Panmure)
  • Albert-Eden (Dominion Road, Mt Eden)
  • Howick (Pakuranga Plaza)
  • Orakei (Meadowbank)


Pools and recreation centres

Auckland Libraries


All libraries will be closed Christmas day and New Year’s Day. For your local library hours over the holiday period go to www.aucklandlibraries.govt.nz.

All libraries resume normal hours from Wednesday 4 January 2012.

Call centre

The council’s 24-hour call centre will remain open throughout the holiday period.
