Forbury Road Dunedin - Fatal crash

At approximately 8.50pm on Thursday the 1st of December 2011 there was a fatal crash involving a car and a motorcycle on Forbury Road, Dunedin.

The crash occurred at the intersection of Forbury Road and Sandringham Street in Saint Clair.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 34 year old Dunedin man, died at the scene. A female, the sole occupant of the car involved, was taken to the Dunedin Public Hospital with minor injuries.

The roads involved are currently cordoned off while the scene is being examined. Detours are available and it is likely that the roads will reopen later tonight or early Friday morning.

At this time it is not known what has caused the crash or what were the contributing factors. A number of witnesses have observed the crash. Further examination of both the scene and the vehicles involved will take place.
