WELLINGTON CITY

Live in or near Johnsonville? You might want to be part of our consultation on the future expansion of Johnsonville Library.

Johnsonville needs a bigger library because the population it serves has already grown beyond our expectations and is expected to increase.

We will include a proposal in next year's Long Term Plan - where Councillors look at what we can afford over the next 10 years. But before we do that, we want your input on the preferred site.

There are four options: keep the library where it is (Broderick Road); move the library to the new mall once it's redeveloped; move the library to the Mobil site on the corner of Moorefield and Johnsonville roads; or place it next to the swimming pool and community centre. The fourth option includes the opportunity to create an integrated community hub out of all of those services.

We have a preferred option - the last one. This doesn't mean that's going to be the chosen one, but we'd like to create a community hub in Johnsonville, as we see it developing as a major town centre in the future.
