Tauranga Police investigate Suspicious Death

Tauranga Police are investigating the death of a 50 year old Tauranga male in Fourth Avenue on the evening of 6 December 2011.

Detective Senior Sergeant Greg Turner says police are investigating the circumstances and advises that a forensic post mortem will be conducted in Auckland to establish the cause of death.

Detective Senior Sergeant Turner says inquiries today will focus on identifying and interviewing potential witnesses, together with an area canvas and scene examination utilising ESR Scientists.

He says a 43 year old sickness beneficiary from Tauranga has been arrested for assault, and will appear in the Tauranga District Court later today.
