Fleeing Vehicle

At about 9am Wednesday 7th Dec 2011 at Whakatoa Rd, Manutuke, Gisborne, a man was arrested after a vehicle pursuit.

The 39 year old Gisborne man was riding a Harley Davidson Motorcycle at speed and failed to stop for police on Matawai Rd, near Gisborne. He was pursued by Police to Whakatoa Rd, Manutuke.

A slow speed collision occurred between the motorcycle and a patrol car on SH2 at Whakatoa Rd. The rider was uninjured in the crash. He ran from the Police but stopped a short distance away and gave himself up.

One lane of SH2 near Whakatoa Rd Manutuke was closed for a short period while Police processed the crash scene for the subsequent investigation.
