High wind warning for the Rimutaka

Police are warning all motorists using the Rimutaka Hill road to exercise extreme caution due to the very high winds currently affecting the area.
A small truck travelling over the hill earlier this morning reported being spun around by the force of the wind. No damage or injuries resulted however this is an indicator of the severity of the conditions being experienced.
Motorcyclists or motorists in high sided vehicles should be especially cautious or, preferably, delay unecessary travel.
