Fatal car crash

An avoidable high speed crash in Marlborough has resulted in a car hitting a power pole and bursting into flames. At this stage we can confirm at least two deceased; however, further investigations are required to ensure no further persons in the vehicle. No details on the deceased are available. Forensic confirmation of identification will be required which will take some time.

Two vehicles have been travelling down Old Renwick Road heading towards Renwick, speed has been major factor. It appears that one of the two vehicles has lost control just after Jacksons Rd and crossed the centre line colliding with the power pole. Old Renwick Road will be closed between Jacksons Rd and Pak Lims Road until a thorough scene examination has taken place. A further media release will be made in the morning.
