Police investigate Rotorua assault

Rotorua Police are investigating an assault on a 15 year old girl in Rotorua's Kuirau Park at about 7.40pm on Sunday 8 January 2012.

Police are interested in speaking to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident.

In particular Police are interested in speaking to the occupants of a blue van, believed to be a family that were using the foot pools within the park, and also the occupants of a green long wheel base vehicle with a spare tyre attached to the boot.

Both of these vehicles were seen in the area at the time and may be able to assist the Police with this enquiry.

Police are also interested in speaking to a male (Caucasian) in his 40's (with a grey beanie and glasses) who may have been involved in the incident.

Police say the assault may be sexually motivated, but are not in a position to comment further about any other details until the investigation has progressed.
