Porirua Police are continuing to investigate a fatal vehicle crash involving a motorcycle and a car on Paekakariki Hill Road yesterday.

Detective Sergeant Shane Rongonui says at approximately 3.25 pm yesterday (Tuesday 10th January) the motorcycle was travelling southbound over the hill.

"On the south side approximately 1 kilometre from the summit, a car travelling northbound was turning into a driveway when it was struck in the rear side by the motorcycle. Sadly, the motorcyclist was thrown from the bike and died at the scene."

He says the driver of the car and the children inside the vehicle were very shaken but unharmed.

Paekakariki Hill Road was closed to all but residents for approximately three hours while the Police Serious Crash Unit examined the scene.

"We would like to speak to anyone who may have been travelling over the hill at the time of the crash and may have seen a yellow and black Suzuki GSX 1000 motorcycle travelling south and/or a Silver four door Ford Mondeo travelling north.

Anyone with any information should contact Porirua Police on (04) 238 1400 or phone Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
