Wairoa - Motorcycle crash

Wairoa Police and Ambulance attended a motorcycle accident on State Highway 2 just south of Raupunga around 12 this afternoon (11 January). The accident occured where SH2 passes under the Mohaka Rail Viaduct.

The 57 year old motorcyclist was heading north on SH2. As he approached the tight right hand bend he left the road and crashed into the roadside barrier on the left hand side of the road.

He suffered serious injuries and was transferred by rescue helicopter to Hawkes Bay Regional Hospital for treatment.
