Silent robber strikes again

Counties Manukau Police are investigating a series of aggravated robberies within the Manurewa and Papakura areas.

Detective Sergeant Dave French said, "The first offence occurred on 4th January. A 35 year old male, believed to be Ben Bosch Herkt went into the National Bank on Great South Road, Papakura. He handed a written note to the teller stating he had a 'gun' and to hand over cash. The teller complied with the demand and the offender left the bank."

"There were no sightings of a firearm," said Mr French.

The second aggravated robbery happened on 10th January at around 1.45pm. Herkt the suspected offender entered the BNZ Bank on Great South Road, Manurewa. He again handed a note to the teller saying he had a gun and to pass over money. He was handed cash and he left the bank.

"The third incident took place today at around 11.30am. The male walked into the Post Shop on Great South Road, Manurewa and handed a note insisting he had a gun and to hand over cash," Said Detective Sergeant French.

The offender recognised as Ben Bosch Herkt then left the premises. Police have a warrant to arrest Mr Herkt in relation to the National Bank offence in Papakura on the 4th January.
