Fatal Crash

At about 5.45pm this evening emergency services attended a serious crash at the intersection SHW6 and SHW8b at Cromwell.

A sedan had collided with a light van at the intersection. The driver of the sedan died at the scene from injuries received in the crash. He is a 29 year old male who had been working in the Cromwell area.

Four other occupants of the sedan received serious injuries. Three have been transported by helicopter to Dunedin Hospital. One has been transported by Ambulance to Dunstan Hospital.

The driver of the van received minor injuries and is being supported by family and victim support.

No further details will be released tonight. Any further enquiries can be made to Cromwell Police tomorrow.
