Winton - Crash

At approximately 11.20am on Friday the 13th January 2012 a vehicle crash occurred on the Winton-Wreys Bush Road between Spar Bush Winton Road and Oreti Road.

A Nissan Terrano 4x4 vehicle was heading east and the driver lost control on a tight left hand bend. The vehicle has spun and skidded across the road and into a ditch on the south side of the road.

The vehicle was extensively damaged.

The vehicle was driven by a 23year old female from Ohai.

There were three passengers in the vehicle.

A female passenger was thrown from the vehicle on impact with the ditch. She was very lucky to escape being seriously injured. She received moderate injuries and was taken to Invercargill Hospital by ambulance.

The driver and other passengers were examined at the Winton Medical Centre and released.

Two Police units, a nurse from Winton and an ambulance attended the scene.

At the time of the crash the road was wet and the traffic flow was moderate.

Police enquiries are continuing into the cause of the crash.
