More than $3800 raised for Howick Lions Club thanks to Botany Town Centre Shoppers
More than $3,800 was raised over November and December for the Howick Lions Club through various festive events held at Botany Town Centre. Beginning with the Santa SoupOpera concert in late November, the Christmas spirit continued throughout December with gift wrapping and Santa photos adding to the fundraising efforts.
These events are an integral part of Botany Town Centre’s yuletide festivities and the funds raised will be used to support local charities and community groups. Lions Club of Howick event organiser, Carel Sietses is delighted with the amount raised.
“The generosity of the local community was overwhelming and we would like to thank Botany Town Centre shoppers for their kindness. These donations go a long way in contributing towards the supported charities,” says Mr Sietses.
“We would also like to thank all our SoapOpera performers for giving up their time to support the local community, as well as Eurostar Entertainment who each year generously provides all the sound equipment and operating staff for the event completely free of charge.”
The Howick Lions will be organising this event again in 2012 and are hoping for an even stronger line-up of local talent to help celebrate their 50th anniversary.
Botany Town Centre was a scene of Christmas cheer in December with the nine-metre Christmas tree and the presence of Santa helping to brighten the festive experience for many people. The funds raised for the Howick Lions Club means that this festive cheer will be far-reaching in the community as the money is distributed to deserving local groups.
