Ahead of this weekend’s birthday celebrations, St. Jerome’s Laneway Festival, one of Auckland’s popular Auckland Anniversary Weekend events is close to selling out.

The festival seeks out fresh and great talent for music lovers to enjoy in unique settings and surrounds. This is the first year the festival has been held at Silo Park, in the recently redeveloped Wynyard Quarter.

Festival organiser, Mark Kneebone, believes the early ticket sales reflect the high calibre of performers at this year’s event. “We have a strong line up from both local and international artists and the Silo Park setting offers festival goers a concert experience right in the heart of the city,” he says.

Auckland Seafood Festival organisers have also seen a large number of tickets purchased in advance. “I think the public are more aware that ticketed events can sell out. Our presales for 2012 are double that of last year. Event goers are always looking for the best bang for their buck and I think we have achieved the right mix for them,” says Auckland Seafood Festival organiser, Paul La Franchie.

Auckland Tourism, Events and Economic Development (ATEED) Manager Major Events, Jennah Wootten says, “the success of these events is great news not only for festival organisers but for Auckland. It’s a world class space to showcase the city’s music, seafood and stunning harbour attractions. I encourage all Aucklander’s and visitors to make the most of the events on offer throughout the weekend.”
